The explosion in December 2005 at Buncefield Oil Depot in Hemel Hempstead had immediate and severe repercussions for businesses in the Maylands employment area. The Maylands regeneration project supported the initial recovery, followed by a regeneration programme for this major employment area.

Maylands Business Improvement District (BID):

Hertfordshire Oil Storage Ltd is sponsoring a BID Development Manager to act as a co-ordinator to prepare businesses for a vote in 2008/09 to decide if Maylands employment area in Hemel Hempstead should become a Business Improvement District.
